As St Joseph’s we value the important role of families as the first and continuing educators of your children.  We strive to work in partnership with all families effectively to create opportunities for all children to reach their full potential.

Effective Family-School Partnerships:

  • prioritise all children having the opportunity to reach their full potential.

  • acknowledge families as the first and continuing educators of their children.

  • provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment.

  • value quality teaching and respect teachers’ professional expertise.

  • value the diversity of families and use this as a resource for building a strong sense of community.

  • are based on mutual responsibility, respect and trust.

  • improve student motivation and learning.

  • strengthen the connections between schools and their communities.

As partners in learning, we encourage all families to support the development of effective family-school partnerships by:

  • establishing effective communication that is valued, active, personal, frequent and appropriate;

  • connecting learning at home and at school, through shared high expectations and by working together to create positive attitudes to learning;

  • honouring culture, traditions and values to enhance the social, emotional, moral and spiritual development of each child;

  • encouraging learning in and out of school, supporting our school goals and ethos;

  • establishing opportunities for feedback and contributions to decision-making;

  • connecting with the wider community to strengthen and support collaborative partnerships that enhance learning;

  • providing opportunities for active engagement and participation to support learning and school programs in many ways.

If you'd like to find out more about the importance of family-school partnerships or how you can partner better with us to further your child's education, please don't hesitate to contact us.
