School Counsellor

School Guidance Counsellor

St Joseph’s has an onsite school guidance counsellor, Mrs Dee Trannore, that parents can refer their student to.  Counselling is a process that occurs when a student and counsellor set aside time during the school day to explore issues or concerns they might be having both inside and outside of school.  Some of the concerns that can be addressed by the school counsellor include:

  • Self-esteem and confidence building
  • Peer relationships
  • Anxiety
  • Conflict management
  • Emotional and behaviour regulation
  • Stress
  • Grief and loss
  • Goal setting
  • Decision making

If you would like your child to access this service, you will need to fill in a referral form.  These are available from the front office.  Alternatively, you can ask your teacher to provide you with one.  If you have no immediate concerns for your child however would still like them to have the added support if ever needed, you can still refer your student.
