St Joseph’s Commemorates ANZAC Day 2015

St Joseph’s has a long history of participation in ANZAC Day commemorations.  This year, with the centenary of the ANZAC landing in Gallipoli, the final stage of the commemorative garden and flagpoles was completed, with the addition of a plaque to honour those who lost their lives in this battle.  The project was completed with the assistance of our dedicated P and F, led by teacher Mrs Christine Davies.   We felt very privileged to have Mr Dennis Paidley, Mackay RSL President, join us for the dedication of the garden and our school ANZAC Day Liturgy.

On Saturday 25 April, over 130 students and 18 staff represented St Joseph’s in the ANZAC Day parade, marching in remembrance of all who have fought to protect the freedom of our country.  A wreath was laid as part of the official commemorations by school captains Calen Fehlhaber and Isabella Grima.
